# What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that recognises the skills and knowledge you’ve gained through work, volunteering, or informal learning. If approved, RPL can reduce the number of units you need to complete, potentially shortening your course duration and lowering overall study costs.

Your experience is assessed against the course requirements to ensure it meets industry and qualification standards.
